Each faculty and staff member is bound by the Professional Code of Ethics of the State of Connecticut.
ADMINISTRATION:
Each Administrator at Hope Academy holds the required certification(s) mandated by the State of Connecticut, Department of Education. The Administration’s function is to collaborate with students, families, school districts, clinical and educational professionals to foster productive relationships to ensure the student’s success within the academic and social program. The Administrator of Education supervises faculty via informal and formal observations, reviews lesson plans; and collaborates with each faculty member to review and monitor their professional short and long term goals.
TEACHERS:
Each teacher at Hope Academy holds the required special education certification(s) mandated by the State of Connecticut, Department of Education. Teachers develop, maintain and implement an individual education program for each student; administer formal and informal assessments; serve as advisors for assigned students in order to monitor specific student goals formulated among students, teachers, and clinical professionals. Each student meets with their assigned advisor twice daily to share any concerns with their academic and/or social program. Teachers collaborate with parents, administration, clinical and educational professionals for consultation and/or intervention for each of their students.
CLINICAL STAFF:
School psychologist(s), social worker(s), and counselor(s) hold the required certification(s) mandated by the State of Connecticut, Department of Education. They collaborate with students, families, teachers/advisors, administration, outside clinical and educational professionals. The clinical staff fosters respectful and beneficial relationships between families and professionals. They plan and conduct collaborative conferences with families to encourage and assist them to become active participants in the educational team. They work closely with teachers to identify social goals and implement objectives to increase student social cognition. Hope Academy focuses on the whole child recognizing that despite a child’s cognitive level, they need to be available emotionally for learning.
